Join Race to Zero Waste from April 22-24, 2027 at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa for three days of knowledge sharing on zero waste topics, with a focus on youth action on Saturday, the 24th.
The 2027 Forum is hosted in partnership with Recycle Hawaiʻi and the Zero Waste Youth Alliance.

Who is Race to Zero Waste?
Meet the Host
Race to Zero Waste is a woman-founded and -run 501(c)(3) environmental conservation non-profit organization dedicated to reducing consumption, implementing reuse, and promoting an equitable circular economy. The Race to Zero Waste is an urgent call to reduce waste in all sectors. The impact of zero waste efforts on the environment and global greenhouse gas emissions is significant, and with the urgency of climate change, it has never been more critical to take action.
In 2025 alone, Race to Zero Waste employed over 50 Zero Waste Trainees, conducted outreach at over 30 Zero Waste Pop-ups, provided outreach and education for over 90 event days, engaged over 200 people through its Zero Waste Forum, implemented reusables and trained 20 Zero Waste Ambassadors on college campuses, provided SB: 1383 compliance for 10 municipalities, conducted 40 waste audits, diverted over 100 tons of waste from landfills, reached over 57,000 impressions on social media through Zero Waste Month, and educated over 85,000 people at events and in public spaces.
Race to Zero Waste is an affiliate of the Zero Waste International Alliance (ZWIA) and follows the peer-reviewed definition of zero waste.
This year’s Zero Waste Forum will explore:
- Innovative food waste rescue and diversion programs powered by public, private, and nonprofit partnerships, emphasizing collaboration over regulatory mandates
- Strengthen and empower indigenous voices in the zero waste movement
- Reuse infrastructure and the coordination needed to make it happen at a local level
- Empower youth advocacy for zero waste initiatives
- Supporting and growing green businesses
- Provide practical solutions to waste reduction efforts on the Hawaiian Islands
